I was also there during the June tornado. I was actually visiting my boyfriend at the time, making dinner, when the tornado knocked down his chimney and blew in all the glass on the south side of his house. That was the year David and I were broken up. He had a house on 28th Street between Columbus and Chicago, and the storm took down two enormous elm trees, which landed neatly on either side of the house. Nobody was hurt. But having made sure David and his housemates were okay, I had to rush home and make sure that my cats were all right. Then I went back to Rob's and finished making dinner, since there was no glass in the kitchen or the dining room.
I think it's hilarious and amazing that we lived so close together and had no idea.
