I haven't read BOMBER COMMAND, but I bought COBALT SQUADRON as soon as it came out because I adore Elizabeth Wein's books and who better to write about ladies being brave and brilliant and supporting each other to the death in wartime? It doesn't have the depth of Wein's other books, sadly -- the stamp of Lucasfilm's idea of what middle grade fiction can/should be is all over it, so character takes a back seat to Plotty Action -- but it does have a satisfying character arc for Rose which makes her introduction in TLJ all the more poignant when you realize just what Paige means to her and how inseparable they've always been.
