This may not be something anyone wants to hassle with, but last I knew, which was some time ago, if a landlord rented out an apartment for time the vacating tenant had already paid for, the tenant was entitled to a rebate. That is, unless the tenant had not given the required notice. (I admit to not having read every word of all your posts, so this could be the case, I guess.)
