Nothing big -- I ruled out kestrels and red-tailed hawks and red-shouldered hawks because there wasn't the right color. They just didn't look right. On the other hand, most of those birds were almost certainly juveniles, and a lot of the juveniles look more like one another than like adults. I agree that peregrines are the most likely possibility, excep that they don't typically nest in trees.
