That's all one, our play is done

Yesterday evening David drove me to Office Max for packing tape, to Baja Sol for dinner, and then at last to the airport post office, where we had a nice 21st-century moment when I realized that I had not brought a telephone number for the recipient of my manuscript, and asked David, who has the internet on his phone, to please look it up.

Volume 2 is out of the house, shortly to join Volume 1 at Puffin Books.

I'll have editorial letter soon enough, and a copy-edited manuscript (bleah!) soon enough after that, but for the moment I am taking matters very easy. I am hopelessly behind on LJ and may or may not systematically catch up.

My first act as a free person, other than laundry and reading whatever I like for as long as I like, will be to visit the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden with Eric.

I will try to post something of substance soon. In the meantime, if you recently suggested to me a bit of verse for a location spell, or, quite some time ago now, emailed me with remarks about being a teenager in the 1980's, I would be much obliged if you were to email me again, saying whether you want to be in the Acknowledgements of the book, and, if so, whether I should use your LJ handle, your real name (please provide that, if I might not know it), or some other appellation.

Pamela

Yay! The only good book is a done book!

You may remember my real name, as you stared at it on a card around my neck for two hours at lunch recently. If not, I will message it to you. :)

[identity profile] davidgoldfarb.livejournal.com 2009-04-15 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations! Of course you realize this just means you need to get to work on the next thing, whatever it may be. In the meantime, enjoy the wildflowers.

I am creditable as Rose Fox, and very happy to have been part of your crowd of helpers.

congratulations on getting the book out of the house!

I will also email you this, but if you used my bit of verse I would be delighted if you acknowledged me as Lomedet.

[identity profile] lomedet.livejournal.com 2009-04-15 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
er, that is I will email you if emailing is significantly better than leaving an LJ comment.

[identity profile] davidgoldfarb.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
OK, then: I suggested John Donne, would like to be on the page, and have no problem with it being my real name. Email me if you have any trouble finding my real name.

My mother was looking through her bookshelf for something for me to read while I was there, and she offered me The Dubious Hills (which she must have bought for herself, because I didn't buy it for her). This made me happy. :-)

Congratulations. A finished book is a very good thing indeed.

I may have done both or just one. I'm blanking at the moment. If you used mine, you can credit me as Hilary Hertzoff.

Very exciting! I'm looking forward to having new Pamela Dean Books.

I fricking loved my purple and cream striped leg warmers, worn with my cream colored tights, and purple and cream colored minidress with the puff sleeves. Bless me.

Congratulations! You have wonderful weather for a visit to the EBW Garden, or anywhere else.

[identity profile] owldaughter.livejournal.com 2009-04-15 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Hurrah! The feeling of handing in a book is quite indescribable. Congratulations. Give yourself a good break from the idea of work.

I have e-mailed you my particulars, should you wish to use some of the doggerel I suggested.

Or rather, sent you a private message via LJ.

Congratulations, and enjoy the wildflower garden.

I so appreciate your joyful message, especially today. Congratulations! A finished book from you is a win for us all.

YAY, congratulations! That must feel wonderful! I hope you get to see some beautiful wildflowers.

Good news! A vacation and then another book?

[identity profile] dichroic.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if you used my suggestion (Kipling's "Something hidden, go and find it") but will email my name just in case.

[identity profile] darius.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Congrats on finishing! I'm eager to read it.

If I was any help on the seeking-spell, you may credit Darius Bacon.

On and off topic

[personal profile] aedifica 2009-04-16 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
On topic: I don't expect that you used my suggestion as I didn't have a lot of time to put into coming up with a good one right then, but if I'm wrong about that, I would prefer to be credited as Liza Furr. Also on topic: congratulations on getting the book out of the house!

Off topic: I'm about ready to give up on finding out whether the fake Cheetos have whey in them or not--they said they'd be posting the full ingredient list soon, but that was months ago. If you would like to try a small amount and see whether you react, I'd still be happy to bring you some. The choice (and the risk) is yours!

Ooh! New book!

(I just get excited every time you post something suggestion that it is nearer to publication)

I would of course love to be in the Acknowledgements section if my suggestion was at all useful. LJ handle is fine, or my surname is McLean (my first name is probably fairly obvious).

And congratulations on finishing volume 2

[identity profile] papersky.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh well done!

[identity profile] biblio-tech.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely! and lovely weather for roaming the EBWG. We spent last Friday on the 9 Mile Creek prairie and along the creek checking for pasque flowers and saw lots and lots both open and and in furry bud. Pine siskens by the overflowing river.

I would love to see my name in print if you made use of my suggestions. Well, love my name in print in any positive context *g*

[identity profile] dejla.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Would be glad to be in the Acknowledgements if I was any assistance--I suggested a bit of an Elvis song, I believe. The LJ handle is fine.

And congratulations on finishing for the moment!

Congratulations from a long time fan on sending off the manuscript of volume 2! I would love an acknowledgement if you used the Christina Rossetti excerpt I suggested for your locator spell. My real name's fine (less than whimsical, perhaps, but . . .) -- Kim Larsen.

Hooray! I'd somehow missed the news that you finished the book. Yay! (Must've been Minicon mayhem to blame.)

I have a vague recollection that I nattered on about being a teen or pre-teen in the '80s, but I'm not sure if I did or that it was useful. If I did anything useful, I'd be delighted to have my name in one of your books.

(Anonymous) 2009-04-18 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Congratulations! If you used the Spenser, feel free to credit Kris Larson. If not, it's enough for me to spend the rest of this evening squealing around the house that I'll soon(ish) have a new Pamela Dean book to read.

[identity profile] truepenny.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I would be happy to be in your acknowledgments, and using my real name is fine.

Yay you with the finishing also!

[identity profile] ambyr.livejournal.com 2009-04-18 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Congrats--looking forward to reading it!

I'd be happy to be in the acknowledgments as my LJ handle if my poem suggestion was of any use.

suggestion

I'd be delighted to be acknowledged, if I was any use at all. You can just refer to me as Emily in NM.

Thrilled to bits to be acknowledged if the suggestions were of any use. (aieeeee!!! Also, new book. Face splitting grin, over here. Congratulations!)LJ handle is fine, or name: Kali Basu
