Lydy has posted to the MnStf community, and it would be grand if other fans of all stripes would do so too -- http://community.livejournal.com/mnstf/94019.html -- but I'll add here that David is safe in California, and Lydia Nickerson, Raphael Carter, Eric Forste, and I are safe at home.

What an awful thing. Norm Coleman said it was "incomprehensible" three times in a row and it was hard to even make fun of him with the usual verve.

As for less fannish types -- clindau, where are you? bibliotech?

I'm assuming (hoping?) [livejournal.com profile] clindau is at the theater, since she's got a show tonight, presuming the Guthrie didn't cancel the performance.

I saw [livejournal.com profile] lydy's post in [livejournal.com profile] mnstf - so glad you and yours are all safe.

Thanks for the link.

Although I've only really spoken with some of the people listed via e-mail, I'm glad that everyone is safe and sound. =)

Thanks, Pamela! I decided it would be easiest to follow your link than go down Steve's Friendslist gnawing on my fingernails.

Steve's poker coach asks the name of the bridge; I couldn't tell him, just that it collapsed between StP and Minneapolis. Said he used to walk across the Mississippi every day to school and back.

(Steve was asleep and so couldn't be consulted.)

May everyone be safe and all injuries be slight to non-existant...

I'm so glad you and your loved ones are safe.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you from here while you deal with the aftermath. I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts.

I'm so glad you're OK, and thanks for the link to the list, confirming that half a ton of other people I know are also OK. The internet is wonderful, it really is.

No, I understand completely.

I was pretty thrown when Corwin called to tell us. It makes me wish I could pass the particularly snuggly cat around to reassure those who need snuggles.

Here in Scotland, I heard the news at 6:30 in the morning. But I knew Adam and his family (plus John Sjogren and girlfriend) were fine because they had gotten on a plane at 1 pm and were on their way here.

Don't know about the rest of the Pucci family, though I am sure Betsy will know by the time they get here.

As you already know, the show did indeed go on, as did the Twins' baseball game down the street. The Twins' management decided that keeping 25,000 fans and their vehicles off the streets for a few hours so the emergency crews could do their thing was best. I agree. Not to mention the distraction factor.

Cars, trains and boats are all going to be affected for quite a while. I'm glad that the bridge was down to one lane only in each direction at the time--a full load on that bridge would have been even more horrendous.

My Aunt Dorothy called from Hawaii today to check on me, and I told her about Norm Coleman. She made fun of him for you, so that's all taken care of.

And reprehensible

She was happy to do it. And, having spent her entire career working for the State of Minnesota, it was well-informed mockery, too. (I know she misses talking to my dad about these things.)
