If dust could only talk, what would we hear it say

Just a note to say that I am pathetically behind on LJ after Fourth Street and a trip to Duluth and environs, and am being stymied in my attempts to catch up by the curious fact that, once I let Opera update itself, the Post Comment button wouldn't reliably work for me on other people's journals. The Add button for putting people on one's friends list also won't work. Oh, yeah, and the Post button for entries, already defunct, still won't work either, so I'm going to have to dig up Firefox to post this, but I don't really like it for everyday use.

I have ten thousand things to do, things that have been piling up ever since I cracked my rib at the beginning of Minicon. So maybe I'll try catching up silently. Anyway, I'm not ignoring anybody, but I am both behind and impeded by the vagaries of software.

Oh, anghara -- if you want to try Dee Morrison Meaney's works, I think I started with Iseult, which I think is a standalone. There's also a trilogy that begins with Death of the Raven. I think I also said, in the comment that I couldn't post, that probably the only reason I had heard of her is that we shared both an agent and a publisher when I was first getting started.

I loved seeing you! And you should know that although I've put probably 3/4 of my books in boxes, the Secret Country trilogy is still unpacked because I'm going to need it at some point in the next six weeks or so.

Google Chrome is what I use on an everyday basis; I only haul out Firefox when I go to a site that doesn't work with Chrome's rather aggressive popup-blocking. I've never had a problem with LJ in it.

Re: Opera: that is very weird.

I do have a little user javascript thing for LJ, but that's only for being able to allow the "Reply to this" to load on the same page, and that hasn't changed for years.

If you hit F12, is "Enable Javascript" checked? If you right-click on an LJ page that isn't working, choose "Block Content," and then click the "Details" button in the top right corner, does it say that anything is blocked?

Yes and no, but thank you.

The update to Opera may have been a coincidence. Raphael had me reinstall it in case the update hadn't completed properly. This had no immediate effect at all. This morning I could comment on more stuff, but once when I went back to add a second comment to a journal I had just been able to comment on, I couldn't. At this point, things seem to be back to normal. I still have no clue. I am inclined by default to blame LJ.

Thanks; yes, it happened Friday night of Minicon, and was annoyed very much by the Wiscon Death Cold, but at this point, unless I do something like lean over the kitchen sink and push up a sticky window, it's quite amiable.

Yes, it's almost entirely healed unless I am wrestling with a stuck window or something of that kind, in which case it kind of says, "Hey, quit that," and then I do.
