Ten Songs

I'm having trouble making regular posts even though I write them in my head all the time, but I thought this might be fun.

I don't have an iPod or an MP3 player other than the computer, which is connected to a vast labyrinthine music server containing things of interest to the entire household; so what I am actually going to do is to list is ten songs I have hunted down on YouTube recently because I had an earworm.

Dar Williams, "Iowa"
Placebo, "Every You, Every Me"
Kat Flint, "Go Faster Stripes"
Kat Flint, "Anticlimax" (not on YouTube, had to use Spotify)
Suzanne Vega, "Gypsy"
Adrienne Pierce, "Lost and Found"
Richard Thompson, "Wall of Death"
R.E.M., "Wall of Death"
Rumpke Mountain Boys, "Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts"
Meg Hutchinson, "Let's Go"

Some of these are on the music server, but a severe earworm may require playing through seven or eight muddy videos of live performances, where available.

Richard Thompson, "Wall of Death"

Did you listen to the one with Christine Collister?

I keep hoping that Meg will come closer than Chippewa Falls in mid-September, because I don't want to miss Meg, and I also don't want to go to Chippewa Falls at this level of energy/health. But I may have to "Let's Go" all the way to Chippewa Falls.

Youtube is fascinating to me as a kind of sideways/accidental music service.

I've mostly been using it to listen to remixes of things, and to preview albums before I buy them or tracks off of them, though I'm glad that you can use it to de-earworm yourself.

Garnet Rogers, "The Outside Track". (More specifically, "Garnet Rogers' cover of Gerry Hallom's musical setting of Henry Lawson's poem "The Outside Track." ") At least if the theme is missing people, this is the song I have to watch out for.

Love Richard Thompson, very much including "Wall of Death," although sometimes I superstitously decline to play it while driving. Is the R>E>M. a cover?

Let me try this without a link, and with some more words.

That's an interesting group of songs. It sort of indirectly earwormed me with Garnet Rogers' "The Outside Track". (More specifically, "Garnet Rogers' cover of Gerry Hallom's musical setting of Henry Lawson's poem "The Outside Track." ") (If the theme is missing people, this is the song I have to watch out for.)

Thank you for these. I went and had a listen through and really enjoyed them. Our musical tastes are very parallel.

A little Google searching to find new music is never amiss. Given that I met [livejournal.com profile] seanan_mcguire back in 1997 when I looked up "Tam Lin" in Alta Vista (largely your fault, I'm afraid) I find that searches around music tend to produce good results.

Thank you for friending! :)

Seanan has been trying to get me to actually finish the pastiche book that goes with the song since before she wrote the song. One of these years I will finally figure out all of the plot and bash it out.
