I was going to post about Minicon, but the main legacy of Minicon at the moment seems to be a fairly nasty cold. The standard symptoms, while impressive-sounding -- lucious, hacking cough and amazingly watery exudations -- are not really more than annoying. My throat hurts very intermittently, and I can breathe fine. But I've been running a fever since Monday. It took me until quite late in the day to even figure this out. I don't usually run fevers and thought that my feeling generally awful was the result of the affliction's having completely knocked out my appetite. But after a comedy of errors with the peanut-butter jar and the painstaking ingestion of a reasonable quantity of nourishment, I thought to get out the digital thermometer. 102.2. Um, okay. Tylenol is keeping it at normal, and I let the tylenol wear off every morning to see how it's doing. But even a lower fever really just fries my ability to concentrate -- a little dicey at the best of times, but still -- and causes me to resemble a whiny four-year-old.

The cats think it's great, though. A warmer-than-usual person who sleeps a lot. Such bliss.

Has anybody else got a post-Minicon cold or whatever, or am I singularly blessed?

Pamela

I have one. Feeling a bit better day by day though. Tuesday was the worst.

"...my encounter with the peanut-butter jar."

I don't even want to think about what this could mean. (grin)

I've got a kid in school, no need to go to any convention, the germs come home with him. :D

I got one too, though it took until Tuesday to sink its claws in.

I came back from Minicon with a cold, but it seems to be getting better.

Count me in. UGH. Mine is, as always happens, in my bronchial passages. No fever, persistent dry cough. So there may be more than one thing going around. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Why do they always mutate to make us either sicker or sick in a different way? If they mutated to give us super powers, there would be a clear evolutionary advantage for them.

Last year, I came home with a cold from just about every convention I went to. This year has a better record so far, and no post-Minicon crud.

If it weren't for all the other "me, too" posts, I'd suggest that if you continue to run a fever, it might be flu rather than just a cold.

I hope things improve soon.

I got Con Crud, which blended nicely with seasonal allergies.

Count me in. Only mildly annoying compared to my last illness - but hopefully it will be gone soon for all of us!

Hee! It amuses me that you're still using that name for it.

(The game has a boardgamegeek.com entry under "Eat Poop You Cat"....)

I'm more sneezy than usual, but cold-free. So far, at least.

I have been tired but not sick. I missed the Dead Dodo party due to being unable to bestir myself and I had a 4 hour nap today on the couch, being the warm lump on which Comet perched.

Feel better,

K.

I just read an article encouraging folks not to medicate fevers because that deadens one of our defenses against inflamation (or would that be offenses--the way it attacks the bad stuff). It made sense, but I'm not likely to do it until I'm completely retired and have no obligations to anyone. I lose my ability to think even before my temp reaches 99. Plus, the whiny thing.
