The excuse to post a bit of work in progress

People are doing a meme where you go to page 77 of your work in progress and count down seven lines and then post the next seven, "no cheating."

I really don't care about the rules of the meme, but since people seemed pleased that I was working on the Liavek novel, here's a bit from roughly that spot in the manuscript:

"The apartments she and Malion had chosen for themselves must once have been the kitchens of some large institution: a school, a hospital. The Red Temple had kept them up; they did not have, when Thrae first toured the premises, the air of waiting to be awakened that the theaters wore. She took her company into the largest room, Malion shepherding the crowd of them from behind. She cast an eye over them, as if they were in fact a school of small children. Nobody had gotten lost this time."

I was looking for something else and came across this ... just wanted to say that I'd love to read a Liavek novel. :) I periodically pull out my Liavek books and re-read your Benedicti clan stories.
