Eastern Wood Peewees, like all the other aerial insectivores of whatever guild, never mind bird species, are declining. Too much pesticide, no bugs, no breeding success. (Hence cities of a certain character becoming swallow refugiums; it's a rare barn as has a barn swallow these days.)

The way I understand the weather is that the tropical, temperate, and arctic circulation zones are collapsing, or have collapsed, into tropic and not-tropic and this does in the weather models, which are after all much in the character of long-term weighted averages. ("seven out of the last time times, when we saw A, we got B..." sorts of things.)

It's not at all cheering, but nullschools.net has a nigh-real-time model that can be set to display many things.

https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/ocean/surface/currents/overlay=sea_surface_temp_anomaly/orthographic=-45.38,27.20,587 is the sea surface temperature anomaly overlaid on ocean currents. It's a good thing to show anybody who feels unconcern is appropriate about the climate.

Oh, and while it's not settled consensus yet, apparently once the genetics people got ahold of them, muskrats may well be a giant aquatic meadow vole. (Voles are rodents adapted to eat grasses, and emergent freshwater grasses are large and robust, so also the vole.)
