I'm completely at a loss for words. While I'm coaxing some of them out from under the couch, here are a few useful links, both for helping people affected by the arson and looting, and for getting along in the Twin Cities while disruption reighs.

Here is a link to a fundraiser for North Minneapolis. That area got hit as hard as Lake Street, but they aren't getting nearly so many donations.

Lydy has learned to make a really good loaf of sourdough bread. David is coding. Raphael is well.

Uncle Hugo's: I know. I keep forgetting and then remembering again. Some friends went by the building and said that the floor had burned through, dropping everything into the basement, and there seemed to be no cleanup or salvaging that volunteers could do.

(Mind you, I'm of the view that given our own appalling record of deaths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in custody, we Australians need to be focusing our energies on cleaning up our own backyard before we try to fix other people's. But donating to one need not exclude the other...)

I'm glad to hear that you folks are more-or-less okay; I've been concerned. And somewhat appalled by the loss of Uncle Hugo's; that was one of my favourite places in Minneapolis.

Clicking through from rachelmanija's, seeing you say you were in MN. I have family in Ontario, close enough that one of my cousins moved just north of the Twin Cities and got married there. So, I think of you all as my neighbours even though it's been years.

I'd already donated to Black Visions when matching was going on.

I'll probably donate the same to the Uncle Hugo's gofundme as well.

I hadn't known about Black Visions Collective, either. Someone posted a Twitter link about funds matching on a private Discord site (lydy can tell you more), and that's how I found out about it.
