Party Business
Sep. 16th, 2019 08:08 pmI'm sorry I haven't posted in so long. I have plans for several posts.
In the meantime, I wanted to mention that on this Saturday, September 21st, we are having a large party to celebrate David's 65th birthday and (a little early) the 50th anniversary of his becoming a programmer.
The party will be at the old Minicon hotel, now the Doubletree Minneapolis South, in Bloomington on Normandale Boulevard. David has rented a suite on the 8th floor of the short tower (not the main tower). It's currently called the Presidential Suite, but some people will remember it as the Minneapolis in '73 suite from the days of the large Minicons.
The party starts at 6 p.m. and will certainly go quite late.
There has been much cooking and there is going to be much baking in preparation for this extravaganza. If you like bringing things to parties, anything special would be lovely, but we don't need the basics. Sometimes we do! It's excellent when we mess up and don't have enough chips, for people to bring some. But that won't be an issue this time. Please note that if you have specific dietary requirements, then bringing what you need, regardless of whether it's special or basic, is definitely fine. We'll have some vegan and gluten-free stuff, but there is room for more, as well as for food fitting other requirements.
David emailed many people about this party quite a while ago, and has been documenting preparations on his Facebook page, but I recently talked to someone who hadn't heard about it, so I thought I'd make a post.
If you know either of us and want to come to a big party, please do.
The party is also a meeting of the Minnesota Science Fiction Society, but since we are terrible at evangelizing, you don't need to worry about that.
If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

ETA actual date of the party, good grief, and thanks to lcohen for the heads-up.
