One hundred seventy words. And they contain a very important plot point I was not actually aware of until I wrote them, so I think I'll retire on my laurels for the moment. Getting back into Thrae's viewpoint is rather difficult.

Eric called again and we had a proper conversation, full of reassurances and attempted plans for a very uncertain future. The mere attempt was cheering.

My left heel is protesting my having walked twenty blocks without the usual support in my nearly worn-out shoe, but it's probably going to rain tomorrow anyway, so I'm glad I walked today.

I can't think of a proper coda, I'm afraid.

Well, sometimes they call for hiding under the bed. But this one fits in thematically and fills a few holes in what might be loosely called my plan.
