Climatological Hilarity

So I'm packing to spend the night away from home, and I glance at the Weather Underground website. Last time I looked at it, in pursuit of next weekend's weather forecast, it was quite benign, but now it had a big red Advisory on it. My God, I thought, tornadoes already?

Well, no. Frost advisory. I laughed so much I had to go tell Raphael why.

Take that, impending mosquitoes!

What a mercy I didn't get any tomatoes two weeks ago. It drives me nuts to not put tender plants in until Memorial Day Weekend. But there are sound reasons. (Yes, I have Wall-o'-Waters. But my planting methods are a terrible scramble, and W-o-W's require some finicky filling with, well, water, and positioning, and I'm usually grubbing sod out of the raised beds during the time one would ordinarily do such things.)

I wish I thought this meant I could hope for a more usual Minnesota summer, with cooler nights and only a heat wave or two, of only a few days, instead of the horrific ones that go on and on and on with lows in the eighties.
