I'd call this a Writing Update
Jul. 14th, 2003 04:24 pm-- but it's a bit vague and meandering for that. I have just reread The Dubious Hills. I don't believe I've done that since it was first published in hardcover, though I probably dipped into it extensively when the paperback came out.
I quite enjoyed it. I couldn't even remember how I'd solved all the problems. But good heavens, I have NO FUCKING CLUE how I DID that, and now I am proposing, not exactly to do it again, but to do something probably as difficult. I must be out of my mind.
Work is proceeding on the Liavek novel, and I'm getting a stronger and stronger feeling that it will be a good idea to write the two in tandem, because otherwise I will simply despair of the Hills/Whim sequel (presently, in a fit of uninspiration, called "North,", that being the direction everybody is going at the moment).
I'm really enjoying my new characters in the Liavek novel. I was worried about them and whether I'd do them justice, and about having so many viewpoints, but I am quite won over. They have terrifying philosophical discussions with no prompting whatsoever. I can't wait to introduce them to some of the pre-existing characters. *evil chuckle*
I've been having a lot of early-morning wakefulness recently, and I don't think it's due to drugs or hormones; I think it's due to having finances to fret about. Feh. Well, if I write enough long enough I'll have something to sell somebody.
