-- as several people on my Friends list are doing at the moment, the text of an interview with me can be found at this address:

http://members.tripod.com/~geek_world/fantasy_interview_dyer_bennet.html

Some of you might enjoy the rest of the site, too. There's an interview with Jane Yolen, for example. And I do greatly admire their definition of what a geek is.

As evidence of the complete decay of my brain, I will mention that I forgot to list Mary Renault as a literary influence. Fortunately, the kindly person at Geek World who initially got in touch with me added Renault's name to the list for me after the interview was up.

Thanks for the link. This was interesting to read. I was struck by how similar your reading list as a child is to mine - in fact 100%. The reading list when you were older was only a 50% match. I always enjoy hearing about what other people are reading or have read to get ideas about new authors for my own reading list.

By the way, I just pre-ordered the Secret Country trilogy at www.chapters.indigo.ca (I hate Amazon.) and I'm looking forward to reading them.

Yeah I thought that the 100% match was a bit unusual. I'm 45 but I think the similarity is due to the company we keep (fandom).

My backbrain came up with an explanation for the 100% agreement. I decided not to post it here; if you're curious, it's in my journal.

Fortysix percent of the books in your early-reading list influenced me. I don't know why the others didn't.
