If you're up and it's not cloudy, go outside and look at the sky. The aurora is fading in and out over hour house in long pale streamers. (David was very skeptical, but I checked with Spaceweather, and they said sky watchers should be alert for the aurora tonight, because the Earth "has entered an unexpected solar wind stream that could spark a geomagnetic storm." It's not brightly colored out there, but it's very eerie and interesting.

Ah, auroras are among the things I dearly miss about living in the Great Lakes region. Even if they were visible here, we're in our constant-cloudcover time of year. Enjoy!

Thanks for the heads-up. Unfortunately I did not see anything, despite a very clear sky overhead. There is a lot of light pollution to our north.
