[livejournal.com profile] con_or_bust uses the proceeds of its auctions to help send people of color to Wiscon. After this year, they will help send people to other fantasy and science fiction conventions as well.

Here is a link to their announcement post, which includes links to instructions on how to offer an item to be auctioned, browse auctions, make a bid, and so on.

I haven't offered anything for auction because the remaining books I have that I think people might bid on are stored so securely that I can't find them. But there are many other books and other lovely and interesting items for sale, including fictional and artistic collaborations and bookmarks. Take a look.

I've made all the recent beaded things for a local auction, so I just bid on something fantastic. Kate and I were alternating so I just put in my top amount and so far, nobody has outbid it.

Awesome! I am a shade of pinkish-tan, hence I identify as a person of color; however, I understand that is not the sense in which "people of color" is meant, and think it's fabulous that Wiscon wants to infuse its convention with ethnic diversity! Yay Fandom!!
