I'm very sorry, the link I posted in my previous entry is apparently not to an authorized fundraiser either. I apologize for being taken in, and for misleading you.

I got it from a usually unimpeachable source, but Don Blyly's latest update on the Uncle Hugo's website says he has still not authorized anything and when he does, it will be in his name and will be announced on that page and on the Uncle Hugo's Facebook page.

Again, my apologies, and a snarl for people jumping the gun -- including me.

Thank you for the tip! I thought of overstriking at once, having cut my fannish teeth very very long ago in print apas mostly produced on typewriters. But I have yet to sit down and figure out how to do all that stuff on Dreamwidth. A lot of the commands are the same over multiple platforms, but I've run into some anomalies, and I always seem to be posting in a terrific hurry.

There really was an unauthorized fundraiser earlier, with the best of intentions, but of course it made things harder in the long run. Fortunately I think the root cause was an unnuanced desire to help out rather than anything nefarious. It muddied the waters, though.

Aww it's not so much your fault - it is VERY difficult to tease out truth and falsehoods on the net a lot of the time, and there are a shitload of unscrupulous evil people out there who will jump on fundraisers and programs because it's a lot easier to do that when it's all digital.
