Sorry, that is rather melodramatic. But I just glanced at the list of people who have put me on their Friends lists -- there are a number I don't dare put on mine lest I drown, but I look at their journals occasionally -- and it's grown just like the Henry Kelsey rosebush. I had no idea. It's very strange to me indeed. But you are all most welcome to my scattered, sporadic, half-coded, absent-as-much-as-present thoughts and narratives.

(wanders off, much bemused)

It's just easier to have all the journals I read on my friends page than to click on a separate bookmark each time. I don't expect it to be mutual.

I thoroughly enjoyed both The Dubious Hills and Tam Lin; I enjoy your daily meanderings as well. :)

P.S. I've always wanted to get my hands on The Secret Country, The Hidden Land, and The Whim of the Dragon but I've never been able to find them. :(

P.S. Will you be at Minicon? Are the earrings all happy? I will think of that necklace and your imprint together, when I see the Obble's books on the shelves.

i won't be at minicon this year, but i will be next (ask pamela!). but you're going to be at wiscon, too, aren't you?

people have stopped me in the street and asked about the necklace and earrings (when i'm wearing them, of course). and i wear them for special occasions, and love them more than i can possibly say.

I never did find the third one - and my first two are kind of old paperbacks right now. Hardcover would be good...

(When you posted on the Brust list about your journal, hell, I had to come by to look. You write very well :)

I added your journal because I'm a fan, but I try not to be all fangirly. I enjoy seeing what you're up to-- it's nice to know I'm not the only one dealing with complex poly relationships and etc.

And I certainly hope that if you've checked out my journal, you've done it on a day where I've written something creative, and not gone into depressive ramblings about the state of my life!

Likewise!

I admire the way you put words together. I also think you have an interesting life.

Given that I'm rather lacking the interesting life bit myself these day, I really, truly love reading your LJ.

*raises her hand* Fangirl. ^_^ I don't even remember when I first read Tam Lin, but I own a paperback edition, plus I bought autographed hardbacks from you for me and my sister a few years back. I adore that book. In fact, I found a piece of paper in an old folder a few weeks back where I sat down and made a list of everything Janet mentioned reading, so I could go out and find as many of them as possible to read myself.

Oh, and incidentally, Chapman's Iliad and Oddysey have been reprinted recently in lovely large, footnoted, illustrated editions.

More in the way of old acquaintances

I followed a link from Elisem's blog and, remembering conversations in dark hallways past, decided to hang about evesdropping on your inner dialogue. I can't say I've regretted it. I do miss the real conversations, though, but being several thousand miles away from the Frozen North does tend to cut down on the casual dropping by and such.

just another curious fan

I blush to admit that while I own several of your books, I haven't read any of them, so I guess I can't claim to be a stalking fangirl. (It's that reading problem thing -- it's difficult to read writers I am familiar with and like. Reading someone I haven't read before is nearly an insurmountable difficulty.) I friended you because you're the friend of friends and because I think you're interesting and would like to know you better. Hey! Maybe I am a stalking fangirl!

At any rate, I'm arriving Thursday for Minicon so I hope to see you sometime this weekend.

Well, yeah. Like that.

I like your stuff. I adore adore adore *Tam Lin*. You showed up on a friend's friends list. And I "collect" people who are in long-term "mature" (as in, been around long enough to have sorted out the common problems and moved on to truly uniquely brainspraining ones) poly relationships.

I have nothing much more to add to what has already been said. I enjoy your books very much, they seem so familar with the references and quotes. We have a mutual friend who knows how much I love reading your books, and she mentioned your journal to me. I also enjoy the descriptions of Minnesota weather going to the Lotus Cup, I was in Minneapolis years ago, and loved it so much! My fondest memories are of the Lotus Cup and of Times Bar and Cafe when it was on Nicholette. I'm really looking forward to going back someday.

It never ceases to amaze me how much words matter. I think LJ made a mistake calling it a "Friend's List," because then putting someone on and taking someone off it has implications for the friendship. I think of it as a "Reading List."

Me too.

About 1/4 of my "friends list" is people I know in some way or another. I kept it that way for awhile, and then, via the magic of filters, was able to expand it into Way Too Many People.

Anyhow, I'm in the odd position of not having much emotional connection to the books at hand, but really enjoying your journal. You phrase things in interesting ways.

Yep, another fan here. Actually someone in one of my fiction writing classes at uni gave me a copy of Tam Lin to read (which I did with a dictionary in my free hand). That inspired me to take a Classics course (Roman in translation), and has further inspired one of my student workers to chose Classics as a minor.

So, yes, I like to keep up on what's going on with you. ^_^

Just another fangirl, as well as a Carleton alum. I like the notion that my favorite authors are people, too, which is why I added you - and this time of year always makes me want to re-read Tam Lin, for no apparent reason, and my annual re-reading coincided with seeing a link to this somewhere. So here I am. I'm glad to know you don't mind. =)

Mea culpa

I'm experimenting with LiveJournal, and you were one of the four or five names of people I knew. I'm trying to figure out LJ in terms of blogging, and whether or not I want to use it with students.

That said, I'm exceedingly fond of your writing, have hunted down or placed orders for everything I can find, adore Tam Lin, even used it as a text, accompanying it with Thomas of Erceldoune and Sir Orfeo.

But I'd not expect you, or anyone to read me.

I found your journal when perusing [livejournal.com profile] synaesthete7's friends page (she is an online penfriend of mine.) I added you to my reading list because of your very interesting posts about Minneapolis and gardening. (Oh, and your new book project...I'm wishing you luck. I liked your Liavek stories.)

Rabid fangrrrl. I got Tam Lin out of the Santa Fe Public Library as a seventeen-year-old and it's been one of my favorite books every since. I've nagged nearly every used bookstore I know into trying to get copies of the Secret Country trilogy and I'm delighted it's to be republished. When I saw you linked in Steven Brust's online journal I couldn't resist.
