Sorry, that is rather melodramatic. But I just glanced at the list of people who have put me on their Friends lists -- there are a number I don't dare put on mine lest I drown, but I look at their journals occasionally -- and it's grown just like the Henry Kelsey rosebush. I had no idea. It's very strange to me indeed. But you are all most welcome to my scattered, sporadic, half-coded, absent-as-much-as-present thoughts and narratives.

I blush to admit that while I own several of your books, I haven't read any of them, so I guess I can't claim to be a stalking fangirl. (It's that reading problem thing -- it's difficult to read writers I am familiar with and like. Reading someone I haven't read before is nearly an insurmountable difficulty.) I friended you because you're the friend of friends and because I think you're interesting and would like to know you better. Hey! Maybe I am a stalking fangirl!

At any rate, I'm arriving Thursday for Minicon so I hope to see you sometime this weekend.

I had exactly the same problem for four or five years. It was excruciating. It has mostly gone away; I have some embedded reluctance to read new stuff, but it's mostly just habit at this point. So take heart.
