Two hundred sixty words yesterday, and I am very smug because the conversation is finished.

Otherwise not very productive. They keep turning up the gravity. My theory is that my drugs are working a bit too well but not enough too well to allow the dosage to be cut. More exercise, more weight loss, or more dietary change ought to result in one of those phone calls where I say, "My blood pressure is 95 over 65 and YES I'M DIZZY," to which the response should be, "Cut this or that dosage in half." But I'm not there yet.

Eric came over on Wednesday and helped me cook potatoes with spinach, sweet potatoes with cinnamon and cardamom, curried cauliflower, and curried eggplant. It was a very pleasant conversation at dinner, too. He also did some stuff for me in the yard. Most amusingly, he is helping me get rid of the buckthorn. I told him there was one hiding in the shade of the neighbors' huge lilac bush, which overhangs part of the back yard. He told me to come out and admire how large it was. When I did, I saw that he had removed a young tree of a buckthorn that I had not even known was there, rather than the small one-branch bush I was referring to. It's sneaky stuff.

Have been getting extra time at home during the week, since midweek dates don't work with E's schedule. I miss him, but I don't mind the extra time with David and Raphael and the cats.

The Henry Kelsey is blooming madly; about half its buds are open. The parts where it goes over the rose arches are very pretty indeed. But somebody has got to turn down the gravity so I can weed.

Raphael and I have been watching episodes of CSI. My absolute favorite to date is the one with the airplane.

I'm rereading Dorothy Sayers. It's partly truepenny's fault.

And I need to update the report on Afton. Eric reminded me that we heard rustling in the grass and a sound remarkably like clucking chickens, at about the same time we saw the deer.
