A Monday Morning
Jun. 9th, 2003 04:29 pmI had a splendid weekend, but am finding self-imposed restrictions on what I describe a bit annoying in talking about it, even though most of it can in fact be described.
So, to the mundane things: The plumber came and fixed the toilet. It was the gasket. He gave us an estimate for replacing the whole thing, but since inquiry resulted in the information that the only other things likely to go wrong with it were that the jets might get plugged up, but that that usually only happens with hard water, and Minneapolis water doesn't do it as a rule; or that the flushing mechanism might go wrong in various ways, but that is usually fixable, we went with the cheaper option of repair. The plumber put extra caulking and silicon on various parts, and I hope that will be the end of it.
While he was working I wanted to be handy in case of questions, so I ended up clearing off and washing the top of the kitchen cart, washing the carousel and inside of the microwave, washing out all the recyclable cans with stubborn bits in them, and sweeping the floor of the upstairs kitchen.
After he left I felt quite exhausted and have only taken my cat out since. However, I did write over the weekend, probably about seven hundred words. I don't know for sure because I handwrote them and haven't typed them in later. Yay just the same.

Date: 2003-06-10 02:10 pm (UTC)In any case, with this cat, who is a longhair, I got a harness that fastens on top of the animal, not underneath where it can get caught in belly-fur. This might be a good idea even for short-haired cats who don't like their bellies messed with. I then opened the inner door to the back yard, and while Ari was sniffing at the screen door and pawing it and insisting on going out, I put the harness on him and fastened it up and attached the leash. After that, he let me put it on him because he knew it meant going outside.
I got the harness at chorizons.com.
