Book Deal!
Mar. 17th, 2004 07:50 pmAll right, the offer on the sequel to The Dubious Hills and The Whim of the Dragon has been made, chewed on, tossed in the air, lost under the sofa, and retrieved. A deal is done.
The manuscript is due August 1, 2006, with the hardcover to be published in 2007 and the paperback in 2008. Yes, those dates are very far away, but I have to write the thing, and I don't do that either quickly or consistently.
I am smug and delighted.
People who tendered congratulations when the deal was only beginning need not feel obliged to do so again, but no discouragement is intended.

Date: 2004-03-17 05:58 pm (UTC)Congratulations. Although the moment after I signed the papers on my one and only book deal, I mostly wanted to go throw up. It meant I had to produce the damned thing. Good thing it wasn't to be a work of literature of any sort, just an extension of my work.

I'm looking forward to meeting your editor in a couple of weeks; I already know I really admire her sensibilities!

Date: 2004-03-17 06:59 pm (UTC)I am delighted. This post nudged me to finally go to bookfinder.com and scare up copies of the trilogy, which I've yet to read, and they've been ordered. I was especially pleased to find The Dubious Hills, as previous searches have failed to score a copy.
Now I'll be all primed when the sequel comes out. (-:

Date: 2004-03-17 07:37 pm (UTC)Not to mention a faint hope that if they are publishing more of your books, they might start bringing the older ones (Tam Lin? Please?) back into print.
By the way - I periodically run across your short stories in (sigh, out of print again!) anthologies. Is there any likelihood, do you think, of putting them all together into a collection?
Catherine, ever hopeful
