My splendid editor, the one responsible for reprinting the Secret Country books, who is known hereabouts as sdn, emailed me today to let me know that the Firebird edition of The Secret Country has outsold the original Ace edition.

I am simultaneously startled and very, very smug.

I suspect that in another month or so the pall cast over the first two volumes by the circumstances of their purchase will have evaporated and I'll be ready to read them -- and also to buy the third volume.
